A nice roasted pecan can bring out the complex flavors of a well-curated charcuterie board or cheese plate.

• Take a bland salad and jazz it up with some sizzled and spiced pecans.

• Hit the trail with an extra crunchy, munchie snack, by adding roasted pecans to your favorite granola mix.

• Start the morning right and toss a few toasty nuts in your cereal.

• Or bring a refreshing change to the usual party-appetizers and show up with a platter of flavored, smoked pecans.

Now, some of you may be wondering, “What’s the difference between roasting and toasting a pecan?”. The answer is simple. Roasting is when the nut is cooked fully through, and is usually done in an oven. Toasting means to brown the nut on the outside, and is usually done over a fire or on the stove.

With that in mind, here’s our own simple tips on the best way to roast and toast your pecans:

For the most basic version of oven roasted pecans, simply preheat your oven to 325 degrees, and layer pecan halves evenly on a cookie sheet. Heat for about 5-7 minutes for a crispy, natural snack. After cooling, store in an airtight container, and they’ll be ready to eat by the handfuls.

If you want just a nice outer toast on your pecans, the best way to achieve it is by using a skillet on the stove top, shaking and stirring often. A low temperature will do the trick, and no salt is necessary. Once again, you should allow the nuts to cool completely, and store in an airtight container.

You can determine your own sweet or salty additives depending on your preference. Check out a few of our roasted pecan recipes below!
